 Bas gitarist i kontrabasist, kompozitor, dirigent, aranžer i producent. Pionir džez-roka i fjužna, umetnik koji je redefinisao status bas gitare u savremenoj muzici. Rodom iz Filadelfije (1951), Stenli Klark je zanat ispekao u džez klubovima Njujorka ranih 70-ih, u društvu legendarnih Arta Blejkija, Dekstera Gordona i Stena Geca.
Svetsku slavu donosi mu kvartet Return to Forever, koji su činili Čik Korija (klavijature), Al Di Meola (gitara), Klark (bas) i Leni Vajt (bubnjevi) – jedan od najuspešnijih džez-rok/fjužn sastava svih vremena. Sa ovom grupom je dosad jedini put posetio Beograd. Paralelno vodi uspešnu solo karijeru (19 solo albuma), dokazujući da i basisti mogu da uživaju status zvezde. Bio je prvi koji je jednako virtuozno baratao kontrabasom i bas gitarom. Unapredio je tzv. slap funk tehniku sviranja bas gitare, a njegova numera “School Days” (1976), smatra se ultimativnom bas himnom. Arsenal instrumenata koje koristi čine kontrabas, električna bas gitara, tenor bas, pikolo bas, akustična bas gitara i električni kontrabas. Godine 1981., sa klavijaturistom Džordžom Djukom formira visoko komercijalni Klarke/Djuke Projekat. Bio je i član sastava New Barbarians (sa Kitom Ričardsom), Jeff Beck Group, Animal Logic (sa Stjuartom Koplandom, ex. Police), Superband (Lari Karlton, Al Dimeola, Najee i Deron Džonson), The Rite of Strings (Žan Lik Ponti i Al Dimeola) i Vertu (Leni Vajt). Od sredine 80-tih, deo energije predaje filmskoj i TV industriji, postajući jedan od najtraženijih kompozitora i aranžera u Holivudu. Prošle godine, pored rada sa svojim sastavom, turneje sa Džordžom Djukom sa all-star postavom Trio! (Klarke, Bela Flek i Žan Lik Ponti), na TV kanalu BET pokrenuo je serijal emisija “On the Road with Stanley Clarke”. Bavi se i edukacijom i vodi program prikupljanja sredstava za mlade talente, u saradnji sa renomiranim kolegama (Stevijem Vonderom, Flijem, Markusom Milerom, Alom di Meolom, Žan Lik Pontijem).
